Queer Jewish West Philly wedding at The Woodlands

I’m so excited to share this queer Jewish West Philly wedding at one of my favorite neighborhood venues, The Woodlands. An oasis of green with majestic old trees in the middle of West Philly, The Woodlands is a beautiful Victorian-era cemetery.

Meryl and Maxray definitely had a celebration that reflected their values and personalities. They set aside a bit of time around sunset for some portraits and photos with family, but other than that they trusted me to document their day organically. Which is a dream come true for a documentary photographer!

Some details I loved about this non-traditional wedding included getting ready together in the morning, providing child care for their guests with kids, food trucks for dinner and no assigned seating. Besides having a DJ, they invited an awesome drag performer Lili St Queer.

Their attire was non-traditional and so cool! I especially adored Meryl’s cape and Maxray’s floral epaulettes by Gen.aissance. What a vibe!
