When Lizzie and David reached out about their colorful summer wedding at Portico Awbury Arboretum, they described the day they were dreaming of as having a “chill but fun and funky vibe.” They also said: “We’re excited to dance!!! And to have a ceremony that makes people laugh and cry!!!” I loved their priorities immediately.
Portico Awbury Arboretum was a perfect setting for their colorful summer wedding in Philadelphia. Sarah from Salt Florals created the most incredible floral designs for the day, from Lizzie’s unique and colorful bouquet to the ceremony and reception flowers. Everything felt playful, vibrant, and full of personality. The couple’s dress code was “funky formal” and we were so impressed with all of the gorgeous colors and patterns they guests came up with.
And then, of course, there was the rain. It literally started pouring right when Lizzie was walking down the aisle with her mother. Rather than letting a little rain stop them, Lizzie and David and their guests grabbed umbrellas and continued with their outdoor ceremony. And the best part? The sun came out in the middle of their vows and it was pure magic!
From a rain-soaked ceremony to an unforgettable dance party, Lizzie and David created the kind of Philadelphia wedding that felt genuine from beginning to end. It was exactly the kind of day I love documenting.
